Case Study: Warehime Enterprise

The Objective:

Transition 40 Acres to USDA Organic/Regenerative Organic agriculture with the potential to scale up to 1200 by providing management support and technical assistance to the farm family leasing the land.

THE JOURNEY:

Located in Heidelberg Township, Pennsylvania, this conventional farm started its journey to transition to USDA Organic in July 2020. Rodale Institute Consulting was brought on as a partner in February 2021. With our partnership, the farm has gone through significant positive change, beginning to implement not just organic, but regenerative organic farming practices on 200+ acres of land. Approximately 40 acres will be certified in the Fall of 2024.

HOW WE PARTNER:

Rodale Institute Consulting was tapped to provide education, technical assistance and farm management support to the farm management team – ensuring all practices and operations were consistent with regenerative organic principles including no-till plantings, adding additional crops into rotation, implementing beneficial habitat, etc. We are also currently helping to trouble-shoot challenges as they arise and partnering to monitor changes in soil health and overall productivity. Building on the success of this test, we will be expanding our partnership and impact with Warehime Enterprise over the next three years with the goal of transitioning even more farmland.
